Le Malzieu-Forain ( Occitan : Lo Malasiu Foran ) is a southern French municipality with 476 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lozère department in the Occitania region . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Mende and Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole (until 2015: Canton Le Malzieu-Ville ). The inhabitants are called Malziolains .

Le Malzieu-Forain is located in the area of the Causse de Sauveterre in the south massif Central in the Cevennes in the historical landscape of Gevaudan . Le Malzieu-Forain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Privat-du-Fau and Paulhac-en-Margeride in the north, Saugues in the northeast, Grèzes in the east and northeast, Chanaleilles in the east, Lajo in the south and southeast, and Saint-Alban-sur -Limagnole in the south, Prunières in the south-west, Le Malzieu-Ville in the west and Saint-Léger-du-Malzieu in the north-west.
