Maximilian Vitus

Maximilian Vitus Ertl (born April 13, 1897 in Gauting , Bavaria , † January 1968 ) was a Bavarian actor and author.

Life

He was born Maximilian Ertl in Gauting in 1897. He began his career with small traveling theaters, which led him to the Tegernsee farmers' theater . There he got to know his wife Kreszenz. In 1930 he began writing comedies. His play Das Prämienkind was adopted by radio in 1932. In 1933 his play The Three Polar Bears was created . From 1937 to 1939 he was at the Munich Volkstheater. From 1939 he was obliged to look after the front through Kraft durch Freude . With his own comedy theater, he traveled through the German Empire , France , Latvia and Greece . In August 1944 he took over the Volkstheater in Bad Reichenhall, which was closed at the end of the year by order of the Reichstheaterkammer. He was drafted into the war and returned from captivity in August 1945. in July 1946 the Volkstheater reopened. The occupying power gave him the management of the Theater am Platzl . In August 1949 the Reichenhaller Volkstheater went to Lini Meth. At the beginning of the 1950s he handed over the management of the Theater am Platz to Ludwig Schmid-Wildy . Then he played at the Ingolstadt City Theater . He died in January 1968 at the age of 70.

Work as an author

He wrote around 30 comedies. These are regularly performed by many farmers' theaters in Bavaria. Many plays have also been recorded in Der Komödienstadel and Chiemgauer Volkstheater and broadcast on television.
