Chiemgau Volkstheater

The Chiemgauer Volkstheater , under the direction of Bernd Helfrich and his wife Mona Freiberg , is a theater ensemble from Bavaria . It can be seen all over Bavaria on its tours . Tours have also taken the Chiemgau Volkstheater to Baden-Württemberg and Austria , and rarely to northern Germany as well.

Origin of the theater

The Chiemgauer Volkstheater was founded in 1929 by Georg Truk. Bernd Helfrich's parents, Amsi and Lothar Kern, took over the management of the ensemble in 1964, but separated in the same year. Lothar Kern had previously been the artistic director of the Tegernsee Volkstheater . After separating from her husband, Amsi Kern took over sole responsibility as director of the Chiemgauer Volkstheater .

In 1984 Amsi Kern († 2002) passed the management on to her son, Bernd Helfrich, and his wife, who have been in charge to this day.

In March 2009, the 150th TV production of Theater Recordings was started with Bayerischer Rundfunk . The ensemble has been on TV since 1992, first on Sat.1 and since 1995 together and successfully with Bayerischer Rundfunk. In 2009, the 125th theater recording was made with the BR. Every year there are a total of six new TV productions (previously eight or ten) that are recorded on two consecutive days with an audience and a BR production team in Munich . The recordings were previously broadcast every second Friday, currently on selected Sundays at 8:15 p.m. on Bavarian television. In June 2018, Bayerischer Rundfunk announced that it would record two more comedies by the end of June and then end the collaboration with the Chiemgauer Volkstheater due to increasing cost pressure.
