Patrick Lindner , actually Friedrich Günther Raab (born September 27, 1960 in Munich ), is a German pop singer .

Life

Patrick Lindner was born as the son of an insurance employee and the housewife Hedwig Raab (1926–2016) in the Sendling district of Munich . He initially worked as a cook , u. a. in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof , before he took second place at the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1989 with the song Die kloane Tür zum Paradies and thus achieved his breakthrough. Many successful singles and albums followed, which, like his first hit, came from the pen of the composer Jean Frankfurter and the lyricist Irma Holder . Lindner was the protagonist of several television programs, including Patrick Lindner personally and So a day with good friends as well as the Patrick Lindner Show on ZDF (until 1998). He also made guest appearances in several German TV series such as SOKO 5113 or Das Traumschiff .

In 1997, Lindner turned away from popular hits with the album Himmelweit , towards more modern hit melodies. He stayed true to this stylistic direction for four more albums. In 1999 he took part with the title A bit of sun, a bit of rain in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 , where he took sixth place.

In 2005 he released the album Gigolo together with the Thilo Wolf Big Band , which contained well-known, mostly English-language swing tracks. In the same year Patrick Lindner played in the RTL cookery show In Teufels Küche and was named the winner there.

In 2006 he released the album Die Sonne ist für alle da . There was another collaboration with Jean Frankfurter and Irma Holder. In addition to some hits, there were also several folk songs on the album. With the title Like a rain of stars in the night , Patrick Lindner qualified for the international final, where he finished sixth, thanks to his second place in the German preliminary decision of the Grand Prix of Folk Music .

On October 18, 2008 he played the leading role as cook Patrick in the television film Das Musikhotel am Wolfgangsee on ARD , ORF 2 and on the SF 1 channel .

Patrick Lindner tours German-speaking Europe at regular intervals. In 2012 he took part in the fifth season of the RTL dance show Let's Dance . His professional dance partner was Isabel Edvardsson . The couple dropped out in the seventh episode and reached number 6. In May 2014, Patrick Lindner released his anniversary album Nur mit Deine Liebe , which after seven years made it back into the top 100 of the German album charts.

In 1999 he adopted an eight-month-old Russian child care home. In 2005 he separated from his long-term partner and manager Michael Link .
