Grand Prix of Folk Music 2006
The 21st Grand Prix of Folk Music took place on August 12, 2006 in Munich ( Germany ). As in previous years, the participating countries were Germany, Austria , Switzerland and South Tyrol . In each country a public preliminary decision was made on television. Four titles each were determined for the final.
The Swiss preliminary decision took place on April 22nd in Zurich , the German on May 25th in Munich, the South Tyrolean on May 26th in Algund near Merano and the Austrian on June 17th in Vienna . The events, for which an album was released with all participants, was broadcast live.
The final was broadcast on August 12, 2006 from Munich by ZDF as part of a Eurovision program and taken over by ORF , SF and RAI Bozen. The show was moderated by Marianne and Michael from Germany.
At the end of the ranking, Rudy Giovannini with Belsy and the Coro Monti Pallidi were the winners of the 2006 Grand Prix of Folk Music. Her song Salve Regina was composed and written by Marco Diana and Fabio Omero. After Oswald Sattler and Jantje Smit (2000), the Ladinern (2004) and the formation Die Psayrer with Barbara (2005) the formation brought the victory of the Grand Prix to South Tyrol for the fourth time.
There was a glitch when determining third and fourth place. As a result, Monika Martin was initially determined to be third. However, after correcting the count, it was found that the duo Claudia & Alexx had reached third place. Monika Martin had to be satisfied with fourth place and had to return the trophy she had already given or pass it on to Claudia & Alexx.
