The 25th Grand Prix of Folk Music took place on August 28, 2010 in Vienna ( Austria ). As in previous years, the participating countries were Germany, Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol. It was the last edition of this music event so far.
The Swiss preliminary decision took place on May 1st, 2010, the South Tyrolean on May 21st, 2010 in Algund and the Austrian on May 22nd, 2010. In Germany, there was no public preliminary decision on television, instead the decision was made internally: initially fifteen songs were selected, from which four contributions were selected for the final. Despite the fact that there was no open preliminary decision, the fifteen “finalists” were released on a CD as a compilation, just as albums were released for the other preliminary decisions.
The final was broadcast on August 28, 2010 from Vienna by ORF as part of a Eurovision program and taken over by ZDF , Swiss TV (SF) and RAI Bozen . The show was moderated by Marc Pircher . For the final event, an album was released with the contributions of all the finalists; on the occasion of the 25th edition, this also contained a second CD with all previous winning titles. The show also paid homage to the competition and its inventor, Sepp Trütsch .
