Belsy (born December 23, 1984 in Kerala , India ; real name Belsy Demetz ) is an Italian singer of popular hits who grew up in South Tyrol . At the beginning of her career she used the stage name Belsy Khan .

Life

At the age of one year she was adopted by Erika and Raimund Demetz from Selva di Val Gardena and grew up in South Tyrol. At the age of seven she took part in the international children's festival Zecchino d'Oro and joined the Cor di Mutons de Sëlva . In 2002 she was a guest at the open air festival in Castelrotto after her first solo CD was released. In 2003 she was the representative of her country at the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the title Home Creates and achieved 3rd place. A year later she was able to take second place behind the Ladins at the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2004 with the song Madre di dio . She won the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2006 together with Rudy Giovannini for South Tyrol (Italy) and the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2010 together with Florian Fesl for Germany. This makes Belsy & Florian Fesl the reigning and at the same time last GP winners, since the GP of Folk Music was discontinued in 2010. Belsy is also the most successful GP participant of all time (2 × victory in a duet, 1 × 2nd place and 1 × 3rd place). In 2010 it became public that Belsy & Florian Fesl are not only musically but also privately a couple. On May 10, 2014, during her performance at a musicians' steamer concert in Gransee , Belsy announced that she would end her singing career at the end of 2014 in order to support her parents in the family hotel. In their private lives, too, they both now go their separate ways.
