1988 Grand Prix of Folk Music
The third Grand Prix of Folk Music took place on July 9, 1988 in Zurich ( Switzerland ). As in previous years , the participating countries were Germany , Austria and Switzerland. In each country, a preliminary decision was carried out at various radio stations. Five titles were determined for the final. The 15 titles of the German preliminary decision also appeared on a CD .
The final was broadcast by SRG as part of a Eurovision broadcast from Zurich and taken over by ZDF and ORF . The moderators were again Carolin Reiber (Germany), Karl Moik (Austria) and Sepp Trütsch (Switzerland). The starting order of the titles and countries had been drawn beforehand. After the title was presented, several juries from the participating countries determined their favorite, although the titles from their own country were not allowed to be rated.
At the end of the evaluation, the Original Naabtal Duo was the winner of the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1988. Her song Patrona Bavariae had Gunther Behrle composed and texted. This was the first time that Germany had won the competition.
Linz was chosen as the venue for the next Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1989 , regardless of the country of the winner .
