The Biberstein siblings

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Biberstein siblings are a folk singing quartet from the Swiss canton of Solothurn.

The four sisters Ruth (* February 11, 1950), Marie-Louise (* August 1, 1951), Margreth (* February 23, 1954) and Dorli (* June 12, 1957) grew up on a farm in Hubersdorf and have already discovered in their childhood their joy in singing together. They achieved their breakthrough in 1976 when they came in second in a young talent competition. They first appeared on television in 1977 at the Wysel Gyr City and Country Gala .

In 1979 Alex Eugster of the Trio Eugster produced the first sound carrier with them. Today the four sisters are among the most important interpreters of popular music in Switzerland. It is not uncommon for them to be accompanied by Carlo Brunner's Superländer band or the Turi Schellenberg Trio . (Turi Schellenberg is Ruth's husband.) For the album So en Tag they received a gold record in Switzerland .

In addition to their full-time activities, they own the Biberstein Siblings Wine Gallery at Klosterplatz 6 in Solothurn .
