Grand Prix of Folk Music 2001
The 16th Grand Prix of Folk Music took place on September 1, 2001 in Vienna ( Austria ). As in the previous year , the participating countries were Germany , Austria, Switzerland and South Tyrol . In each country a public preliminary decision was made on television. Four titles each were determined for the final. The Swiss preliminary decision took place on April 21st in Zurich (moderation: Leonard and Monique ), the South Tyrolean on May 25th in Merano , the German on June 14th in Hof (moderation: Carolin Reiber ) and the Austrian on June 24th in Vienna (Moderation: Wolfram Pirchner ). The events, for which a CD was released with all participants, were broadcast live.
The finale was broadcast by ORF as part of a Eurovision broadcast from Vienna and taken over by ZDF , SRG and RAI Bozen. The moderator was Wolfram Pirchner , who already led through the Austrian preliminary decision. The starting order of the titles and countries had been drawn beforehand. After the title was presented, the viewers from the participating countries were able to choose their favorite again via TED.
At the end of the evaluation, Marianne Cathomen was the winner of the 2001 Grand Prix of Folk Music. Your title Hey Baby, kiss me again was composed and written by Wolfgang Dütting . With this, the singer once again won the Grand Prix in Switzerland.
Regardless of the country of the winner, Merano was chosen as the venue for the next Grand Prix of Folk Music in 2002 .
