Reviews

Roger Ebert ( Chicago Sun-Times , February 11, 1985) compared the film to " Stalag 17 ". The film does not intend to seriously show the Catholic schools. Some “inspired” scenes would be followed by disappointments. Ebert praised the storyline of the romance between Michael and Danni and the character of Caesar.

Janet Maslin ( The New York Times , Feb. 8, 1985) wrote that the director and screenwriter had a keen sense of the time, place, and characters. The attached epilogue is "superfluous". Some actors like Donald Sutherland and Andrew McCarthy are "remarkable".

Others

The film, shot in New York City , opened in US cinemas on February 8, 1985, and in Germany on September 4, 1986.
