Stephen A. Rotter
Stephen A. Rotter (born before 1969) is an American film editor .
Life
Rotter began in 1969 his career as an editor in the film industry in Hollywood , in the film Alice's Restaurant , and resulted in over forty films and television series to cut out.
In 1976 he was nominated for a British Academy Film Award for Best Editing , alongside Jack Fitzstephens , Richard P. Cirincione , Sanford Rackow , James Sabat and Dick Vorisek for Dog Days (1975) by Sidney Lumet .
He had a success with the four-part television series Holocaust - The Story of the Weiss Family (1978) by Marvin J. Chomsky, produced by NBC . For this he won the Emmy for outstanding film editing in a series drama together with Robert M. Reitano, Craig McKay, Alan Heim and Brian Smedley-Aston, and in 1979 with Craig McKay the Eddie Award of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) for the best edited episode in this miniseries . the third episode The Final Solution. He, Alan Heim and Brian Smedley-Aston were also nominated for an Eddie for the episode Saving Remnant and with Robert M. Reitano for the episode Family Weiss .
At the Academy Awards in 1984 he won an Oscar for best editing with Glenn Farr , Lisa Fruchtman , Douglas Stewart and Tom Rolf in the film The Stuff That Heroes Are Made (1983) by Philip Kaufman . He also received another nomination for the Eddie for Best Editing in a Motion Picture with Glenn Farr, Lisa Fruchtman and Tom Rolf.
