Dick Vorisek

Richard J. "Dick" Vorisek (born February 21, 1918 in the Bronx , New York City , New York ; † November 7, 1989 in Stamford , Connecticut ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Vorisek began his career in the late 1940s and was involved in over 120 film productions by 1987. He worked on eleven Sidney Lumet films between 1960 and 1986 , including Serpico , The Morning After and The Man in the Snakeskin . He maintained another long collaboration with director Brian De Palma , for whom he worked on six films from 1972 to 1987, starting with The Sisters of Evil to The Untouchables - The Incorruptible .

For his work he was nominated three times for the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category: 1976 for Lumets Heist-Movie Hundstage , 1978 for Lumets Filmsatire Network and 1981 for Bob Fosse's music film Behind the Spotlight . 1982 he worked for Reds along with Tom Fleischman and Simon Kaye for the Oscar in the category Best Sound nominated.

Vorisek died in Stamfold, Connecticut in 1989 at the age of 71.
