action
Danielle Breton works as a photo model . She meets the advertising expert Phillip, whom she invites to her place. Her neighbor, Grace Collier, a journalist, later watches in Breton's apartment as Phillip is brutally stabbed. Police investigator Kelly inspected the specified apartment, but found no evidence of a crime in it.
Collier hires the private investigator Joseph Larch to investigate further. Larch finds out that Breton had a Siamese twin she was separated from - Dominique. Dominique died in the process, as a result of which Breton suffers from a dissociative identity disorder and occasionally takes on the role of her dead sister.
Collier follows Breton to a hospital where Danielle kills Emil Breton, a doctor she used to have a relationship with. Kelly and his colleagues come to the hospital. Due to a previous hypnosis , however, Grace can no longer remember the first murder.
Reviews
Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times that the "elegant little" film was made as a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock , but that it has a life of its own. It doesn't work because of the twists and turns of the plot, but because of the representations. Margot Kidder and Jennifer Salt are two exceptions in the world of beautiful actresses who cannot act; Salt in particular works convincingly as a “tough and stubborn outsider”.
“Exciting psychological thriller that cleverly combines technical perfection with a spontaneous staging style. Some bloodthirsty effects require strong nerves. "
