action

Henry Valentini and Moe Dickstein are neighbors and have been best friends for years. Both work as errand boys for the Mafia . The two dream of opening their own restaurant and hate their current job with the Mafia, as they don't get the slightest respect from their boss Anthony Castelo. One day they accompany Frank “The Fixer” Acavano (one of the top people among Castelo's men) to the horse race and bet on the worst horse in terms of the odds. Henry Valentini, however, relies on the horse with the best odds at the last second. But to the shock of the two, Castelo's horse wins the race.

The fraud is noticed relatively quickly, and after a long teasing they are forced to take the boss's advice, namely to kill each other. They don't know, however, that they both have an agreement. Full of fear they follow the waiter Marco, who is shot by Castelo's men. On the run, the two Acavanos manage to steal Cadillac in order to drive to Atlantic City to see Henry's uncle Mike. This is a retired Mafioso who offered Castelo the job many years ago. After buying a luxurious hotel room with Frankie “The Fixer's” credit card, they meet the owner and an old friend Bobby DiLea and later go to Uncle Mike's house. But they only find his ashes because he was already dead. Somehow, however, Henry gets the money that he and Moe still owe their boss from Grandma Valentini.

He drives it back to the hotel and asks DiLea to sort things out with Castelo. In the hotel room, the two neighbors find out that they have to kill each other. Meanwhile, they think they are at peace with Castelo and his men again. But they have a different plan, namely to kill both. It comes to the showdown in the casino, in which Henry wants to bet the money for Castello against Moe's will, because he has a lucky streak. Caught there by Castelo's men, and after a subsequent wild chase in the casino, Moe Dickstein shoots his partner Henry Valentini. Back in Newark , Moe and Henry's hometown, Henry Valentini's funeral takes place. In Moe's house, Henry surprises him when Moe was about to hang himself and explains to him that the shooting of Henry had already been arranged with Bobby DiLea, and that the gun and film blood had been prepared. To get Moe out of the line of fire, they turn on the gas on the gas stove, put a skeleton on the table and write a farewell letter. Just as Moe and Henry are about to leave, Castelo and his men enter Moe's house. Castello takes a cigarette and demands a lighter from his gang until he realizes too late that everything is full of gas and the house along with the mafia gang explodes.

In Atlantic City, Henry explains that he has saved the money, but that it has already been invested in a restaurant that both of them have always dreamed of.
