Simon Kaye
Simon Kaye (born July 22, 1935 in London , England ) is a British sound engineer .
Life
Kaye began his film career in 1959, his debut was the carry-on comedy 41 Grad Liebe , but still without credit in the credits. From 1963 he also worked for British television, including on 24 episodes of Mit Schirm, Charme and Melone . Between 1969 and 1993 he was nominated ten times for the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Sound . He received three awards, in 1970 for Oh! What a Lovely War , 1978 for The Arnhem Bridge and 1988 for Freedom Cry .
Kaye was also nominated four times for an Oscar in the Best Sound category. In 1982 (for Reds ) and 1983 (for Gandhi ) the nomination remained. In 1987 he received the award for platoon together with John Wilkinson , Richard D. Rogers and Charles Grenzbach . He received his second Oscar in 1993 for The Last of the Mohicans , together with Chris Jenkins , Doug Hemphill and Mark Smith .
