Kate Reid

Daphne Katherine Reid (born November 4, 1930 in London , England - † March 27, 1993 in Stratford , Ontario ) was a Canadian actress .

Career

Over the course of her career, she has made numerous theater, film and television appearances in Canada and the United States , where she earned an outstanding reputation. She was seen in character roles at an early age, one of her first film roles in This Girl Is For Everyone showed her in 1966 as the mother of Natalie Wood, who was less than eight years her junior .

Reid is remembered by German audiences mainly for her role as Linda Loman alongside Dustin Hoffman in Volker Schlöndorff's film adaptation of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, which she also played with the same cast on Broadway . She was also able to impress as a strange scientist in the science fiction film Andromeda - Deadly Dust from Space from 1971.

In 1974 she was accepted into the Order of Canada with the rank of officer . Kate Reid died of a brain tumor in 1993 at the age of 62 .
