Michael Pröpper

Michael "Pröppi" Pröpper (born January 30, 1960 in Dorsten ) is a former German football player .

Career

His most successful period was from 1984 to 1988 in the Rot-Weiss Essen jersey . In the first two seasons he scored 40 goals in 53 games in the amateur upper league of North Rhine-Westphalia and was the top scorer in 1985/86 in the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . In the year he was promoted he was voted the best player in the Oberliga Nordrhein by the press.

In the years 1986 to 1988 he played somewhat withdrawn in midfield, so that his record in the 2nd division was 64 games and six goals. Other clubs from Pröpper were SpVgg Erkenschwick and BVL 08 Remscheid .

“Pröppi” comes from a well-known footballer family from Dorsten. His uncle is the well-known Wuppertal player Günter Pröpper . His cousin Carsten Pröpper and his brother Thomas Pröpper were also professional footballers.

He played his last competitive game on June 1, 2008 in the district league B West for SuS Hervest-Dorsten, where he also worked as a player-coach for some time. Even if he was denied a goal in his last game, he put on the Dorstens top scorer again at the age of 48. Despite some injury-related failures, he was able to achieve 31 goals this season. Michael Pröpper is now back playing in the 1st team in the district league A for SuS Hervest-Dorsten.
