Career

The midfielder comes from a well-known family of footballers. His uncle is the well-known former Wuppertal player Günter Pröpper . His brother Michael and his cousin Carsten were also professional footballers. From 1992 to 1994 Pröpper played a total of 44 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for Wuppertaler SV and Hannover 96 and scored three goals.

Thomas Pröpper moved from the youth team at BVH Dorsten via Rot-Weiss Essen to FC Schalke 04 , from where he moved to Wuppertaler SV in 1989. With the WSV he won the championship of the Oberliga Nordrhein in 1991/92 and celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . After a brief stint at Hannover 96, he moved with Wolfram Klein from the second division relegated from Wuppertal to Rot-Weiss Essen in the Regionalliga West / Südwest in 1994 , before returning to Wuppertaler SV for a year. For Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , Pröpper scored eleven goals in the 1996/97 regional league season and only narrowly failed with the club as runner-up in the second division promotion. The annual club changes continued, so he played in 1998 for the regional league club LR Ahlen , was again champion of the Oberliga Nordrhein in 1998/99 with Rot-Weiss Essen and then moved together with his teammate Dirk Helmig to former league competitor 1.
