Grand Prix of Folk Music 1990

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fifth Grand Prix of Folk Music took place on June 17, 1990 in Saarbrücken ( Germany ). As in previous years, the participating countries were Germany, Austria and Switzerland . As in 1989 , a public preliminary decision was held on television in each country beforehand. Five titles were determined for the final. The Swiss preliminary decision took place on April 16 in Interlaken , the German on April 26 in Hof and the Austrian on May 17 in Bad Vöslau . The events, for which a CD was released with all participants, were broadcast live.

The final was broadcast by ZDF as part of a Eurovision broadcast from Saarbrücken and taken over by ORF and SRG . The moderators were again Carolin Reiber (Germany), Karl Moik (Austria) and Sepp Trütsch (Switzerland), who already led through the respective preliminary decisions in their country. The starting order of the titles and countries had been drawn beforehand. After the title was presented, several juries from the participating countries determined their favorite, although the titles from their own country were not allowed to be rated. After the opening of the German-German border in 1989, spectators in the GDR were able to take part in the vote for the first time . The DFF television ballet (today the MDR television ballet ) also appeared as a special gesture in the live broadcast from Saarbrücken.

At the end of the evaluation, the Kastelruther Spatzen were the winners of the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1990, and they were able to achieve their final breakthrough. Your title Tears do not fit to you had Walter Leykauf composed and Gustl Gstettner texted. The Kastelruther Spatzen brought victory of the Grand Prix to Germany for the second time after the Original Naabtal Duo .

Innsbruck was chosen as the venue for the next Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1991 , regardless of the country of the winner .
