Haymo Pockberger

Haymo Pockberger (born December 1, 1925 in Salzburg ; † January 3, 2008 ) was an Austrian actor and radio host.

life and career

After his acting training, Haymo Pockberger stood on stage with Johannes Heesters, among others .

In 1950 he joined the Red-White-Red broadcasting group as a newscaster . After that he worked for ORF for almost forty years, mainly in the entertainment sector. Later he was also head of the entertainment department at Radio Upper Austria.

He invented the broadcasts Linzer Torte, Schnulzodrom and Haymberger on the phone . He presented the weekly Linzer Torte himself 336 times, the show is still on today. With the satirical Ö3 telecast The Schnulzodrom, where he commented on new German pop with his own rhymes mocking and regularly with you again cry! adopted, he became known in Germany in the early 1970s. The radio show Haymberger on the phone was a successful variant of the "hidden camera" .

As an actor he was in the radio play series Everything clear, Commissioner? to hear from Leo Frank . He was also involved in some television productions, for example in the six part ... I decided to remain a politician .

In 1987 he retired as a radio man, but continued to work as an artist. In 1990 he took part in the Austrian preliminary decision for the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the title: The village schoolmaster Seiberl. In 1992 he took part in The Festival of the Chicken .

Haymo Pockberger was awarded the title of Professor, the Medal of Honor of the Province of Upper Austria and the Culture Medal of the City of Linz. On the night of January 3, 2008, he died of complications from his heart disease.
