Grand Prix of Folk Music 1997
The 12th Grand Prix of Folk Music took place on August 30, 1997 in Zurich ( Switzerland ). As in previous years , the participating countries were Germany , Austria and Switzerland. As has been the case since 1989 , a public preliminary decision was held on television in each country earlier this year. In each case 5 titles were determined for the final. The Swiss preliminary decision took place on March 29th in Interlaken , the German on June 8th in Saarbrücken and the Austrian on? in ? instead of. The events, for which a CD was released with all participants, were broadcast live.
The final was broadcast by SRG as part of a Eurovision broadcast from Zurich and taken over by ZDF and ORF . The moderators were again Carolin Reiber (Germany), Karl Moik (Austria) and Sepp Trütsch (Switzerland), who already led through the respective preliminary decisions in their country. The starting order of the titles and countries had been drawn beforehand. After the title was presented, several juries from the participating countries determined their favorite, although the titles from their own country were not allowed to be rated.
At the end of the evaluation, Sandra Weiss was the winner of the 1997 Grand Prix of Folk Music. Your title I'm not looking for paradise was composed and written by Eric Alphand . Sandra Weiss won the Grand Prix in Switzerland for the third time in a row, following Géraldine Olivier (1995) and Daniela and Dirk (1996).
Vienna was chosen as the venue for the next Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1998 , regardless of the country of the winner .
