Peter Grossen (born August 31, 1961 in Frutigen ) is an accordion and black organ player from Frutigen in the Swiss canton of Bern.

Career

As a 7-year-old Peter was already on stage with a harmonica . Until 1984 he played together with his father and two brothers as well as a befriended bassist in the Schwyzerörgeliquartett Grimer, Kandergrund . From 1983 to 1996 he was an active member of the legendary and popular Länderbuebe Biel. The formation was amicably dissolved at the end of 1996 after more than 2,000 appearances, 2 gold and 1 platinum awards.

Peter Grossen founded the Swiss Länders Gamblers together with René Schmid in 1998. The name is untypical for a Swiss country band. But actually it's not a typical folk music group: only around half of their repertoire consists of Swiss folklore. In addition, there are snappy Dixie / jazz melodies as well as light music from all over the world. The musicians Peter Grossen, Pius Baumgartner, Willi Bollier, Bruno Raemy, René Schmid and André Schornoz use over 20 different instruments in their performances (various saxophones , clarinet , piano , accordion , ukulele , percussion , Schwyzerörgeli, double and electric Bass etc.). Although the Swiss Lander Gamblers have only existed since 1998, they are already one of the best-known and most popular (folk) music groups in Switzerland. In 2002 the Grüezi record company awarded them the “best-selling (popular) sound carrier” in Switzerland. In September 2007, 68% of TV viewers voted the Swiss Lander Gamblers at the Federal Folk Music Festival in Stans as the “Lander Star 2007”. This was the greatest success of the six musicians to date. The group has produced 11 CDs in their 20 active years and has been to California USA eight times.

The “Berner Örgeliplausch” is the second music group in which Peter Grossen plays an active part. This quartet was created in 2008 from a studio production “The most beautiful melodies by Hausi Straub” and this has resulted in a new group that meets around 30 times a year for concerts. This group can also be seen regularly on TV or heard on the radio. Players: Marcel Zumbrunn, Siebnen SZ, Tony Theiler, Jaberg BE and Hansueli Hehlen, Wangen a. A. BE. Peter currently has over 200 original compositions.

Peter Grossen is also active musically as a studio musician and composer of film and advertising music at home and abroad. Full-time working as a municipal secretary of Frutigen , a 7,000-strong community in the Bernese Oberland.
