Margot Hellwig (née Fischer, married Lindermayr; born July 5, 1941 in Reit im Winkl ) is a German singer of popular music . Together with her mother Maria Hellwig (1920–2010) she performed as the duo Maria and Margot Hellwig .

Biography and artistic career

Margot Hellwig was born as the daughter of Joseph Fischer and Maria. Neumaier born; the father died shortly after her birth in World War II . In 1948 the mother married the businessman and musician Addi Hellwig . After finishing school, Margot took singing lessons from the opera singer and singing teacher Elisabeth Hallstein , mother of Ingeborg Hallstein , and from Franz Reuter-Wolf .

Maria Hellwig was able to record her first successes as a singer at the end of the 1950s. In 1963 the first joint recording of mother and daughter Hellwig, the Feierabendjodler, was released . This started a singing career for Margot Hellwig at the side of her mother. Numerous tours followed throughout Europe, America and other countries. Together with mother Maria Hellwig, she moderated television programs such as Die Heimatmelodie (RTL from 1984 to 1990) or Servus, Gruezi and Hallo (RTL 1990–1993). Margot Hellwig has been a soloist since 1989. Their repertoire is broad and ranges from folk songs, folk songs, yodelling to operetta melodies, classical songs and popular musical hits. She has hosted numerous tours, such as folk music is trump and edelweiss of folk music . In 2008 Margot and her mother celebrated 45 years of singing together.

From 1995, Margot Hellwig, her mother Maria and the quicksand duo appeared together as “The happy clover of folk music”. The four musicians met during a television recording. The first song together, Hello, how are you, was a success. On June 20, 2005, they were awarded a gold CD for their joint album Old and Young Belong Together at an anniversary gala in Reit im Winkl.

Margot Hellwig was married from 1961 to her former teacher Arthur Lindermayr (1926–2016), whom she met as a pupil at the age of 16. She has two sons born in 1966 and 1968 and lives in Munich. Due to her husband's state of health, she ended her stage career in 2015 with the song Sag bei Abschied leise Servus , which she performed with Florian Silbereisen in his Advent program.
