Addi Hellwig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Addi Hellwig (* 1922 in Kassel ; † September 1996 in Munich ) was a German businessman and producer of folk music. He was married to the folk music singer Maria Hellwig and thus stepfather of Margot Hellwig and producer of the folk music duo.

Addi Hellwig met Maria Fischer in 1944 in Reit im Winkl. The two married in 1948. Addi Hellwig founded a traveling theater with his wife in the 1950s. In the mid-1950s he founded the “Enzian Trio”, with which he initially accompanied his wife Maria Hellwig musically. The first recordings were made on which songs such as “In the home alone lives happiness” or “When blue violets bloom” appeared together with Maria and Margot Hellwig. He converted an old cowshed in Reit im Winkl into a restaurant that has been called “Zum Kuhstall” since it opened on Christmas Day 1964. The management of the restaurant, which also hosted concerts by Maria and Margot Hellwig, was under the control of the Hellwigs until Addi Hellwig's sudden death after a heart attack in September 1996.
