Captain Cook and his singing saxophone are a German Instrumental - hit tape .

Band history

In 1993 the successful pop composer and producer Günther Behrle launched the band. In the style of Billy Vaughn ( Sail Along Silv'ry Moon ) she was supposed to play new instrumental recordings of hits and evergreens in the sound of the saxophone. They are considered the "epitome of 'light music'".

The group of seven with three saxophonists changed line-up frequently over the years. The singing saxophones had their breakthrough in the mid-2000s. In 2003 they took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the instrumental title I think so like Billy Vaughn, written by Behrle , and finished in 10th place in the final. Two years later, after their second Grand Prix participation, Du bist my first thought took part for the first time place their albums in the official German album charts. The following year, they won the German Grand Prix preliminary round and finished 6th in the final.

In the following years, the band was able to place albums in the charts regularly and advance into the top 30. Mandolins and Mondschein , Santa Lucia and Weltreise were each awarded gold for 100,000 copies sold. In 2008 they were also able to repeat their victory in the Grand Prix preliminary round.

Most of the repertoire of Captain Cook and his singing saxophones is made up of saxophone versions of well-known hits, oldies and instrumentals from the 50s to the present day. In addition, they also play some of Günther Behrle's own compositions and, after a singer with Freddy Paulheim joined the band in 2004, since 2006 they have also occasionally played vocal pieces such as the Grand Prix contribution I think so much about my mother (2008). In 2013, Captain Cook and his singing saxophones celebrated their 20th anniversary.
