Marianne and Michael are a German moderator and singing duo of folk music , consisting of the couple Adolf Michael Hartl (born March 18, 1949 in Köflach , Styria ) and Marianne Hartl , née Reiner (born February 7, 1953 in Munich - Giesing ).

Life

After training as a locksmith, Michael learned guitar and singing for three years. Marianne was initially a tax assistant, studying classical singing and the accordion. In 1973 the two met at Münchener Platzl and got an engagement as a singing and music duo. In 1974 they shot Der Jäger von Fall , their only feature film to date.

They have been legally married since 1979 and have two sons. On September 9, 2016, they got married in Rottach-Egern .

In 1986 Marianne and Michael took part in the first Grand Prix of Folk Music and achieved 11th place with their song Today is Dance . In 1987 they sang the song of the ARD television lottery Unser Land .

After numerous television appearances, at the end of the 1980s they took over the moderation of the superhit parade of folk music on ZDF and the music show Funny Musicians , of which they produced around 100 issues from 1989 until they were discontinued in 2007. After temporarily switching to Sat.1 with parties and RTL with a local melody , they returned to ZDF in 1993. Today the duo can look back on over 200 ZDF programs. Since 2000 they have fulfilled their hearts' wishes in their additional show Liebesgrüße with Marianne & Michael on ZDF.

With the title Germany is' schee they won the superhit parade of folk music in 1996. At the beginning of the 1990s, Marianne and Michael founded a music publishing company and since then have also dedicated themselves to the next generation in the folk market.

In July 2007, ZDF announced that the contracts with Marianne and Michael would no longer be extended. Reason: "[... there is] no legal right to Beatles or folk music" ( ZDF spokesman Walter Kehr ). The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Volksmusik und Schlager then obtained a legal opinion in order to take action against the alleged discrimination. On November 13, 2007, Marianne and Michael announced in Johannes B. Kerner's talk show that they would host three shows on ZDF in 2008, the preliminary round for the Grand Prix of Folk Music , Christmas with Marianne and Michael and an open-air show.

On September 19, 2007, Marianne and Michael received the award for their life's work at the award ceremony for the Golden Hen .

From 2008 to 2010 Marianne & Michael moderated the summer open air , the preliminary round of the Grand Prix of Folk Music and Christmas with Marianne and Michael . Since ZDF changed its program in 2011, Marianne & Michael also lost their last three TV shows. The two also had an appearance on January 30th, 2014 at the new edition of Dalli Dalli , This is great! .
