Hermann Löns Medal

The Hermann Löns Medal , awarded since 1974 in the platinum, gold, silver and bronze categories, is a prize from the magazine Das Neue Blatt from Heinrich Bauer Verlag , which is awarded for special merits in the field of popular music . The prize is named after the poet Hermann Löns .

It recognizes merits in the promotion and maintenance of folk songs, folk music, German folk songs and popular entertainment and is awarded in particular to singers, composers and moderators as well as orchestras, choirs, vocal groups and instrumental soloists. The award took place during a festive award ceremony under the title Heimat-Melodie . The patrons were among others the Prime Ministers of the federal states Schleswig-Holstein and Bavaria, the Governing Mayor of Berlin and the Federal Minister of the Interior. The award is currently suspended.
