The Menskes choirs until 2006 a community of independent choirs on the Lower Rhine, the choirmaster John Menskes was.

In 1974 he founded the choir community named after him from five choirs. She gave concerts in the Krefeld area and soon got her first television appearances. The first recordings followed in 1981. The choirs also made several concert tours, including to Rome.

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the WDR broadcast a Christmas concert on Christmas Eve 1994 with the Menskes choirs, which have been guests on various television programs until recently. Her repertoire mainly includes folk songs and folk songs . But classical works, such as opera choirs by various composers , also belong to the repertoire. The choirs also sing original compositions by Johannes Menskes. They are regarded as the West German counterpart to the Fischer choirs from South Germany.
