Edy Hildebrandt (born April 2, 1920 in Mayen ; † March 18, 2014 in Luxembourg ) was a German - Luxembourg radio presenter .

Life

Edy Hildebrandt was born in Mayen in 1920. He learned to be a baker and pastry chef in Konz , but later decided to become a radio presenter. As an enthusiastic listener to Radio Luxemburg , he initially took speaking lessons for two years, among others with Camillo Felgen and Frank Elstner . On March 10, 1963, he began the program Take it with Humor on Radio Luxembourg. At first he worked part-time for the station. In January 1970 he moved to Luxembourg. He specialized in folk music and moderated the programs Volkstümliche Hitparade and Die Heimatmelodie , among others . With the latter, he made more than 500 programs and was also seen as a television presenter in the early days of RTL plus . He also moderated motorists on the move , who's laughing , hello neighbor , too stupid - says Edy , Edy's regulars' table , who with whom how and the Luxembourg beach hotel . He is also considered one of the founding fathers of the television show Grand Prix of Folk Music and was represented there as a juror. He left RTL Radio in September 1990.

In 1981 Hildebrandt received the Golden Hermann Löns Medal and the Golden Lion Medal . In 1990 he was awarded the Golden Rooster by the university town of Marburg. One of his trademarks was the Henriquatre beard . Edy Hildebrandt died on March 18, 2014 at the age of 93.
