Alfonso Espino y Silva

Alfonso Espino y Silva (born July 13, 1904 in Puebla de los Ángeles , Mexico , † May 31, 1976 in Monterrey ) was Archbishop of Monterrey .

Life

Alfonso Espino y Silva received on 30 October 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 2, 1947, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Cuernavaca . The Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles , José Ignacio Márquez y Tóriz , gave him episcopal ordination on October 26th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Campeche , Alberto Mendoza y Bedolla , and the Bishop of Chiapas , Lucio Torreblanca y Tapia .

On May 15, 1951 Pius XII appointed him. the Titular Archbishop of Leucas and ordered him to Koadjutorerzbischof of Monterrey. Espino y Silva became Archbishop of Monterrey on July 29, 1952, succeeding the late Guillermo Tritschler y Córdoba .

Alfonso Espino y Silva participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
