The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Puebla de los Angeles ( lat. : Archidioecesis Angelorum , span. : Arquidiócesis de Puebla de los Ángeles ) is in Mexico located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Puebla .

history

Development of membership numbers

The Archdiocese of Puebla de los Ángeles was established on October 13, 1525 by Pope Clement VII with the papal bull Devotionis tuae probata sinceritatis as the diocese of Tlaxcala and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Seville as a suffragan . On September 2, 1530, the diocese of Tlaxcala gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Mexico City . Another assignment of territory took place on June 21, 1535 to establish the diocese of Antequera . On June 6, 1543, the bishopric was moved from Tlaxcala to Puebla. The diocese of Tlaxcala was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mexico City as a suffragan on February 12, 1546. On March 16, 1863, the diocese of Tlaxcala gave parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Chilapa . Further territories were ceded on March 19, 1863 to found the Diocese of Veracruz-Jalapa and on March 12, 1870 to found the Diocese of Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas . The diocese of Tlaxcala gave on April 25, 1902 parts of its territory to establish the diocese Mixtecas .

On August 11, 1903, the diocese of Tlaxcala was raised to an archdiocese by Pope Pius X and renamed the Archdiocese of Puebla de los Ángeles . The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Puebla de los Angeles was 1,959 parts of its territory to the founding of the May 23 Apostolic Constitution gregem Christianorum erected Diocese of Tlaxcala from. Another area assignment on January 13, 1962 on the establishment of the Apostolic Constitution Quem ad modum erected Diocese of Tehuacan .
