The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Acapulco ( lat. : Archidioecesis Acapulcana , span. : Arquidiócesis de Acapulco ) is one in Mexico located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Acapulco .

history

The Archdiocese of Acapulco was founded on March 18, 1958 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Quo aptiori from cession of territory by the Diocese of Chilapa as the Diocese of Acapulco and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mexico as a suffragan diocese. On 27 October 1964, the Diocese of Acapulco were parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Populo Dei erected Diocese of Ciudad Altamirano from.

On February 10, 1983, the diocese of Acapulco was raised to an archbishopric by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Quo maius .
