Carlos Garfias Merlos

Carlos Garfias Merlos (born January 1, 1951 in Tuxpan ) is a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Morelia .

Life

Carlos Garfias Merlos was ordained a priest on November 23, 1975 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Ciudad Altamirano on June 24, 1996 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico , Archbishop Girolamo Prigione , donated him episcopal ordination on July 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Rafael Bello Ruiz , Archbishop of Acapulco, and Alberto Suárez Inda , Archbishop of Morelia .

On July 8, 2003, he was appointed bishop of Nezahualcóyotl and on August 2 of the same year he was appointed to the office. He was named Archbishop of Acapulco on June 7, 2010, and was installed in office on July 24 of the same year.

On November 5, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Morelia .
