Felipe Aguirre Franco

Felipe Aguirre Franco (born February 4, 1934 in Encarnación de Díaz ) is Old Archbishop of Acapulco .

Life

Felipe Aguirre Franco was ordained a priest on March 22, 1958 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 12, 1974 titular bishop of Otriculum and auxiliary bishop in Tuxtla Gutiérrez . The Apostolic Delegate in Mexico , Mario Pio Gaspari , ordained him episcopal on April 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Francisco Javier Nuño y Guerrero , Archbishop ad personam of San Juan de los Lagos , and José Trinidad Sepúlveda Ruiz-Velasco , Bishop of Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

On April 28, 1988 he was appointed Bishop of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. On June 30, 2000, he was named Coadjutor Archbishop of Acapulco. After Rafael Bello Ruiz 's retirement , he succeeded him on May 8, 2001 as Archbishop of Acapulco.

On June 7, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
