The diocese Nezahualcoyotl ( Latin Dioecesis Nezahualcoytlensis , Spanish diócesis de Nezahualcoyotl ) is in Mexico located Roman Catholic diocese based in Nezahualcoyotl .
It was detached from the Diocese of Texcoco on February 5, 1979 and is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Tlalnepantla as a suffragan .
In 1980 there were 2,490,000 Catholics (99.6%) in 44 parishes with 72 diocesan priests , 41 religious priests and 30 religious sisters , until 2002 it grew to become the largest diocese in the world. This year there were 8,891,872 Catholics (88%) in 131 parishes with 192 diocesan priests, 91 religious priests and 167 religious sisters. On July 8, 2003, areas were assigned to the establishment of the diocese of Valle de Chalco .
