history

The diocese Ciudad Altamirano was on October 27, 1964 by Pope Paul VI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Populo Dei from cedings of the dioceses of Acapulco , Chilapa , Tacámbaro and Toluca .

On 11 October 1985, the Diocese of Ciudad Altamirano were parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution trial Cum erected Diocese of Ciudad Lazaro Cardenas from.

The diocese Ciudad Altamirano is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Acapulco as a suffragan .
