The Archdiocese of Chihuahua ( Latin : Archidioecesis Chihuahuensis , Spanish : Arquidiócesis de Chihuahua ) is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Chihuahua ( Mexico ).
history
The diocese of Chihuahua was on June 23, 1891 by Pope Leo XIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Illud in primis from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Durango and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On May 6, 1950, the Diocese of Chihuahua gave up parts of its territory to establish the Mission sui juris Tarahumara . On November 22, 1958, the Diocese of Chihuahua was by Pope John XXIII. elevated to an archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Supremi muneris Nostri .
