Herbert Schmidtmeier

Herbert Schmidtmeier (born July 21, 1937 in Vienna ; † October 26, 2014 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and businessman. Schmidtmeier was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1986 and 1994 .

Schmidtmeier attended a middle school after elementary school and then the commercial department of the Federal Training and Research Institute for the Textile Industry in Vienna. He subsequently worked in various Austrian companies and from 1970 was the owner of his parents' business, M. Kunstadt KG . He was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor.

Schmidtmeier was a member of the Viennese state parliament and municipal council from 1983 to 1986 before he became a member of the national council on December 17, 1986. Schmidtmeier was also regional chairman of the Free Trade Association of Vienna from 1979 to 1987 and from 1987 President of the Free Trade Association of Austria . Schmidtmeier also held the office of Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce for Vienna between 1980 and 1987 and from 1988 was Vice-President of the Federal Chamber of Commerce. Schmidtmeier resigned from the National Council on November 6, 1994.
