Commercial Council

Kommerzialrat (often also abbreviated KmzlR , KommR or KmR , rarely just KR ) is a professional title in Austria that is awarded on an honorary basis to members of the business community who have earned services to the Republic of Austria in their longstanding professions.

The professional title Kommerzialrat is protected by law: anyone who has an unauthorized professional title commits an administrative offense, provided that this does not result in a criminal offense foreseeable by a court.

The professional title and its award are regulated by a resolution of the Federal President announced in Federal Law Gazette II No. 261/2002 .

Other uses

Lay judge

As Kommerzialrat also lay assessors in the senates of the Commercial Court of Vienna and the rest of the "provincial and commercial courts" mean - on only to duration of their function, but the title will be continued virtually unopposed after a possible resignation and because of age or health reasons.

Furthermore, the expert lay judges at the Cartel Court and Cartel Court Court have the right to use the title of Commercial Councilor . This right also exists after the termination of the office, provided that you have been a member of the court for at least five years.

Economic curia

A business curia has been set up at Statistics Austria . Membership is an unpaid honorary position and entitles to use the designation " Kommerzialrat für die Statistics ".

The designation must be used unabbreviated or at least used in such a way that it cannot be confused with the legally protected professional title Kommerzialrat (e.g. KR fdSt.).
