history

The Diocese of Nuevo Casas Grandes was founded on April 13, 1977 by Pope Paul VI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Praecipuum animarum from assignments of territory by the Diocese of Ciudad Juárez as the territorial prelature Nuevo Casas Grandes . On June 3, 2000, the territorial prelature Nuevo Casas Grandes was raised to the diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Constat praelaturam .

The Diocese of Nuevo Casas Grandes is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Chihuahua as a suffragan .
