Archdiocese of Monterrey
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Monterrey ( lat. : Archidioecesis Monterreyensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Monterrey ) is in Mexico located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Monterrey .
history
The Archdiocese of Monterrey was on December 15, 1777 by Pope Pius VI. built with the papal bull Relata semper from cession of territory by the Diocese of Michoacán as the Diocese of Linares o Nueva León and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mexico City as a suffragan . The bishopric was initially in Linares . Accordingly, the diocese was also called the diocese of San Felipe de Linares after the patron saint of Linares .
In 1839 the diocese of Linares o Nueva León gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Texas . A further assignment of territory took place on August 13, 1861 to establish the Apostolic Vicariate Tamaulipas . On January 26, 1863, the diocese of Linares o Nueva León was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Guadalajara as a suffragan. The Diocese of Linares o Nueva León gave on June 23, 1891 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Saltillo .
On June 23, 1891, the diocese Linares o Nueva León by Pope Leo XIII. raised to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Linares o Nueva León was renamed the Archdiocese of Monterrey on June 9, 1922 . On April 30, 1962, the Archdiocese of Monterrey were parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Proficientibus Cotidie erected Diocese of Linares from. Another area assignment took place on 6 November 1989 to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Quo facilius erected Diocese of Nuevo Laredo .
