José Guadalupe Ortíz y López

José Guadalupe Ortíz y López (born December 12, 1867 in Momáx , Guerrero , Mexico , † December 5, 1951 ) was a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Monterrey .

Life

José Guadalupe Ortíz y López received in 1891, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 24, 1919, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . as Bishop of Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas . The Archbishop of Linares o Nueva León, Francisco Plancarte y Navarrette , ordained him episcopal on June 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Saltillo , Jesús María Echavarría y Aguirre , and the Bishop of Tulancingo , José Juan de Jésus Herrera y Piña . The inauguration took place on July 17, 1919. On June 8, 1923, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Chilapa . Pius XI. appointed him on March 26, 1926 titular bishop of Ancusa and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Monterrey. On September 20, 1929, José Guadalupe Ortíz y López became Archbishop of Monterrey. The inauguration took place on January 18, 1930.

On April 27, 1940 Ortíz y López resigned as Archbishop of Monterrey. Pope Pius XII then appointed him titular Archbishop of Pompeiopolis in Cilicia .
