The Roman Catholic Diocese of Tampico ( lat. : Dioecesis Tampicensis , span. : Diócesis de Tampico ) is in Mexico located Roman Catholic diocese based in Tampico .
history
The diocese of Tampico was on August 13, 1861 by Pope Pius IX. established with the papal bull Ad futuram rei memoriam from cession of territory of the diocese Linares o Nueva León as Apostolic Vicariate Tamaulipas .
On March 12, 1870, the Apostolic Vicariate Tamaulipas was by Pius IX. raised to the diocese with the papal bull Apostolica in universas and renamed the diocese Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas . The diocese of Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Monterrey as a suffragan . On November 24, 1922, the Diocese of Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Papantla . A further assignment of territory took place on February 16, 1958 to establish the diocese of Matamoros , which was established with the Apostolic Constitution Haud inani .
On February 25, 1958, the diocese Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas was renamed the Diocese of Tampico . The Diocese of Tampico was 1,962 parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution on June 9 latet Non erected Diocese of Tuxpan from. Another assignment of territory took place on December 21, 1964 to establish the Diocese of Ciudad Victoria .
