The Diocese of Matamoros ( lat. : Dioecesis Matamorensis , span. : Diócesis de Matamoros ) is in Mexico located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Matamoros .

history

The diocese of Matamoros was founded on February 16, 1958 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Haud inani from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Monterrey as a suffragan . On December 21, 1964, the Diocese of Matamoros gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Ciudad Victoria . Another area assignment took place on 6 November 1989 to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Quo facilius erected Diocese of Nuevo Laredo .
