Estanislao Alcaraz y Figueroa (born October 23, 1918 in Pátzcuaro , Michoacán , Mexico ; † July 13, 2006 ) was a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Morelia .

Life

Sabas Magaña García received on 19 December 1942, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 20, 1959, Pope John XXIII appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Matamoros, which was newly founded in the previous year . He was ordained episcopal on April 12th of the same year by the Archbishop of Morelia, Luis María Altamirano y Bulnes . Co- consecrators were Salvador Martínez Silva , auxiliary bishop in Morelia, and the bishop of Tampico , Ernesto Corripio y Ahumada . As a Council Father, he took part in the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

On March 3, 1968, he was appointed Bishop of San Luis Potosí . On July 3, 1972, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Morelia .

Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on January 20, 1995.
