history

The diocese of Tlapa was established on January 4, 1992 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Efflorescentem Mexici from cession of the diocese of Chilpancingo-Chilapa and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Acapulco as a suffragan diocese.
