Alejo Zavala Castro

Alejo Zavala Castro (born December 31, 1941 in Galeana ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa .

Life

Alejo Zavala Castro was ordained a priest on December 17, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on January 4, 1992 as the first bishop of the diocese of Tlapa, established on the same date . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico , Girolamo Prigione , on March 25 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Rafael Bello Ruiz , Archbishop of Acapulco , and Efrén Ramos Salazar , Former Bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa.

On November 19, 2005, he was appointed bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa , and on February 14, the next year, he was appointed to the office.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on June 20, 2015.
