Francisco Melitón Vargas y Gutiérrez (born March 9, 1822 in Ahualulco , Jalisco , Mexico , † September 14, 1896 in Tlaxcala ) was Bishop of Tlaxcala .

Life

Francisco Melitón Vargas y Gutiérrez received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Guadalajara on February 10, 1850 .

On March 15, 1883 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Colima . The Archbishop of Michoacán , José Ignacio Árciga Ruiz de Chavez , gave him on 27 May of the same year in the Cathedral Asunción de María Santísima in Guadalajara the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrator was the Bishop of Ciudad Victoria-Tamaulipas , Giuseppe Ignazio Eduardo Sánchez Camacho .
