Rosendo Huesca Pacheco (born March 3, 1932 in Ejutla ; † November 25, 2017 ibid) was Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles .

Life

Rosendo Huesca Pacheco entered the Palafoxiano seminary in Puebla in 1943 and studied philosophy and theology, from 1954 at the Pontifical Latin American College "Pius" in Rome . On October 28, 1956, he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Rome. From 1959 he studied psychology and education at Fordham University in New York.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 30, 1970 auxiliary bishop in Puebla de los Ángeles and titular bishop of Themisonium . The Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles, Octaviano Marquez y Tóriz , gave him episcopal ordination on August 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Emilio Abascal y Salmerón , Archbishop of Jalapa , and Luis Guízar y Barragán , Bishop of Saltillo .

On September 28, 1977 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles and introduced to office on November 26th of the same year. In 1979 he received the then Pope John Paul II as host on his visit to Puebla as well as the participants of the III. General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate. In October 1995 he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his commitment to the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla .

On February 5, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
